Enchantments stand out as one of the most intricate systems in Diablo Immortal, distinctly different from the Legendary Weapon Skill Bonuses. To unlock a talisman’s true potential, players must upgrade, dismantle, and then refill the necessary amulets. This guide walks through how enchantments function, where to upgrade talismans, and practical tips to improve talisman effectiveness.

Where to find and how to unlock talismans

Talismans serve as secondary equipment for high level heroes, granting additional bonuses to a variety of class skills. Unlike other gear, amulets are categorized by class, meaning that a dropped amulet may not match a character’s needs.

Talismans appear early in the game, but they cannot be equipped immediately. Access to amulets requires reaching level 56. Once the Realm of Damnation becomes accessible, the available charms can be equipped in the character’s inventory.

Here are several routes to obtain talismans for a hero:

  1. Bonus Rewards: talismans can be earned by completing missions. There are restrictions, with up to eight contracts available per day, and receiving a talisman from these tasks is not guaranteed.
  2. Battle Pass Rewards: the current Battle Pass offers four talismans at once for reaching level 16 and another set at level 36. These talismans are part of the free Battle Pass, so players do not need premium access to obtain them.
  3. Ephesus Collector: players may purchase up to three talismans per week from the Hilt Collector for 100 units each. Talismans can also appear in the Limited Time section, but they are drawn randomly, making a reliable acquisition unlikely.
  4. Rewards for Daily Activities: by accumulating Battle Points in the Codex menu each day, players can receive a random talisman daily.

How to upgrade talismans

As noted earlier, each talisman belongs to a specific class, so finding the correct amulet is crucial. Even a standard talisman for the right class will work, since upgrades unlock the item’s full potential and add bonuses. The blacksmith is not involved in amulet upgrades; the upgrade process is handled by a dedicated charming craftsman who specializes in talisman work.

How the upgrades unfold

Visit Rix Square in Westmark. In the southern part of the square, near the main NPC, an amulet seller provides upgrade services for collection improvements, extraction, and the creation of equivalent products.

Begin by salvaging unnecessary talismans. Select surplus amulets in the inventory and exchange them for alchemical powder at the seller. Each ordinary charm yields ten units of powder.

Key reminders for talisman upgrading:

  • Every upgrade unlocks a bonus for a random skill, with up to five possible bonuses.
  • Each talisman upgrade costs 20 Alchemy Powder. A full upgrade costs 100 powder units.
  • Upgrading an amulet may grant a bonus that does not directly affect the hero’s class development.

Why Extraction and Filling of talismans matter. How to acquire and use a Skill Stone

Though it may sound strange, upgrading a talisman can grant a skill bonus that does not impact the class progression. For example, a vitality boost valuable to a Necromancer might appear when upgrading a Barbarian’s amulet. To address this, the talisman dealer offers two additional services: Extraction and Filling. Yet these steps come with their own nuances.

  • Extraction and Filling are available only starting at level 5 upgrades.
  • With a level 5 amulet, all the skills embedded in it can be accessed.
  • Extraction turns the bonus into a Skill Stone, which is used to replace a specific bonus box in the chosen amulet.
  • Filling the amulet with a Skill Stone leaves only one bonus random. That means there is a 20% chance of landing the desired upgrade for the talisman.

Note that once an amulet is upgraded, it cannot be exchanged for alchemy powder. This is the sole item in Diablo Immortal with this rule. A skill modifier is also applied to replace a bonus with a skill tile improvement: +2%, +4%, +6%, +8%, or +10%.

Chances for each skill bonus modifier when applying a skill marker to a talisman district are as follows:

  • +2% Bonus: 75%
  • +4% Bonus: 19.5%
  • +6% Bonus: 4%
  • +8% Bonus: 1%
  • +10% Bonus: 0.5%

There is also a market-based method to obtain a Skill Stone for talisman upgrades. Players can purchase one with platinum and choose the desired bonuses directly, though filling still leaves a single bonus in play.
