How to get a wooden plank and pipe in Silent Hill 2 Remake
Wooden plank is the first melee weapon you unlock in Silent Hill 2 Remake. This basic weapon can be used to attack enemies, break glass, and breach weak walls. Later you exchange the wooden plank for a pipe. Both weapons are earned automatically as you progress.
- Wooden plank: The first melee weapon can be found by exploring abandoned house before hitting the streets of Silent Hill.
- Pipe: The pipe is earned after passing the apartments and encounters with Mary. Together with Maria, James automatically picks up the pipe before they reach the strip club or the park.
The pipe is a permanent replacement for the wooden plank; it is a more powerful melee weapon. It works exactly the same as a wooden plank. If you don’t aim, James will automatically attack with this melee weapon.
How to get a gun
Pistol is the first firearm you unlock in the game. It can only be found after defeating a horde of enemies Apartments.
- The gun is inside “Blue Creek” in apartment 217. You will find these in the red shopping cart. You can find it after solving the coin puzzle in the first part of the Blue Creek apartment complex.
- To enter this apartment, take the key from corridor 2F in the eastern passage apartment 1F.
The gun holds 10 laps in the store. At the start of the game you will usually find 2-3 ammo in a box. Later, as the game becomes more difficult, you will find 6-8 rounds per box. At this point, use the pistol as a last resort and save ammo. It will be very useful for destroying dummies or defeating enemies when they appear in groups.
How to get a shotgun
A powerful shotgun that can destroy enemies such as nurses with one shot. It can be found further down Brookhaven Hospital.
- Go to Brookhaven Hospital second floor. Go to the northwest part of the second floor and enter the women’s locker room via the stairs.
- There is a teddy bear with a curved needle for solving a separate puzzle. Check the open locker nearby to pick up the shotgun.
The shotgun is technically an optional weapon, but you’ll probably find one. There are no puzzles required to obtain the shotgun and it can be picked up at any time before going to Otherworldly Hospital.
How to get a shotgun
The most powerful firearm in Silent Hill 2 is shotgun – an accurate single-shot weapon with a very limited number of rounds and a long wait between shots. You will receive this weapon in third main zone of the game.
- Found in Arsenal 1F Prisons of Toluca– it’s locked behind a gun cabinet. To open it you need get the room key.
- To reach the checkpoint and complete the puzzle in the Snake section of the prison, go through the armory. The key to the armory is in the room south of the checkpoint room on the map.
Once you’ve collected the key, return to the armory to receive this powerful ranged weapon. The gun is very accurate, but bulky – it destroys some enemies with one shot, but you can rarely find cartridges for it.
How to get a chainsaw
The best melee weapon there can be chainsaw. This portable superweapon will destroy enemies in the second playthrough of the game – it’s only available in “New Game+”.
- After you launch New Game+, continue Cemetery to the area “Silent Hill Ranch”.
- After the Silent Hill Ranch sign you will come to a sawmill. In the background The chainsaw will buzz loudly.
The chainsaw is the most powerful melee weaponwhich makes replaying much easier. If you want to beat the game without using a gun, the chainsaw will make it easier.
