Once Human is an exciting open-world survival RPG set in a post-apocalyptic environment filled with aliens. One of the most important aspects here is choosing the right starting weapon for successful survival. In this guide, we will take a look at the best starting weapons in Once Human and give recommendations on how to use them.
What weapons are in Once Human?
In Once Human you have three weapon slots: two for weapons varied and one for fight. You can carry more in your inventory at any time, though, so there’s nothing wrong with having more on hand. It’s worth remembering that ammo is a limited resource, and while it’s easy to produce in large quantities, this isn’t always possible.
Initially, you will be given the opportunity to craft the following types of weapons:
- Pistol: a decent all-round firearm with a decent magazine capacity;
- Hunting rifle: powerful weapon with a small magazine and a short firing range;
- Submachine gun: weaker than most weapons, but has the highest rate of fire. However, the small magazine size means you’ll need to reload frequently, and the high rate of fire means you’ll have to chew through your ammo;
- Gun: slightly more powerful than the SMG and with a slightly larger magazine size;
- Sniper Rifle: Powerful and accurate, the sniper rifle works best at range. Its slow rate of fire and small magazine can put you in danger if you try to use it up close;
- LMG: SMG’s big brother. Slightly weaker and moderately slower, but with a larger magazine size.
Best Early Weapons in Once Human
You will automatically receive machete And crossbow as you progress through “Eve of Evolution”, the first mission in the game. This weapon will be a good help until you get blueprints for more effective weapons.
Pistol
The choice of weapon is up to you. For their money pistol – the best choice. It has a decent power and rate of fire, which compensates for the low magazine capacity. You will have to choose between a strong weapon with a smaller magazine or a weak weapon with a high rate of fire that will burn through your ammo quickly.
Hunting rifle and crossbow
If you have the materials to craft more ammo, it is recommended to use them hunting rifle. Despite the small size of the magazine, it is capable of quickly killing any enemy that gets too close. Anyway, crossbow is a decent weapon and one of the strongest in the early stages of the game.
Recurve bow
As you progress through the early missions, you will eventually unlock recurve bow. While it’s not the most powerful weapon of the early years, it has a good combination of range and accuracy, allowing you to hit an enemy’s weak spot. Don’t forget that you can enter first person mode by right-clicking, further improving your accuracy.
However, keep in mind that characters weighing over 85kg get +15 weapon stability, so weapons with low stability, such as the submachine gun, rifle, and light machine gun, are more effective in their hands.
Best weapon
For melee weapons you have the option to craft them baseball bat or TorchOf these two, the baseball bat is the best choice. While the machete is slightly stronger, the club has a higher chance of critical hits and more damage to weak points. The first strong hit on an enemy (excluding bosses and metahumans) also deals blunt damage, reducing the enemy’s damage by 30% for 15 seconds.
