““It is the Americans who will decide who will be the President of the United States, but we must maintain good relations with the US,” Marcin Przydacz stressed in an interview with wPolityce.pl.
It is clear that the Democratic Party has come to the conclusion that the presidential campaign conducted so far does not guarantee success in any way. Therefore, it was decided to “reset” it and find a new candidate.
– Former Deputy Secretary of State comments on Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race.
I think that Joe Biden has actually been through a kind of crisis in recent weeks related to his activities. It was clear that this debate with President Trump did not go well for President Biden. In addition, a number of mistakes and statements that were widely commented on did not yield percentage points for the Democratic Party, so it was decided to change the candidate and there was renewed hope that this election could still be won. However, we must be aware that time is already very short, and at the same time there is a decision and a race going on within the Democratic camp about who will be the new candidate. All this could cause the victory of the Democrats in the fall elections to slip away
– the PiS MP emphasizes, noting that it has not yet been decided who will replace Biden as the Democratic candidate:
I think at least a few politicians have a mace in their backpack, and Kamala Harris is not the only one willing to make that decision. For years, the decision on the nominee was made well before the convention itself, so we may be in for a surprise here.
He also notes that it is not certain that Harris will be the candidate.
It is clear that an internal discussion and debate has flared up. While Joe Biden in his farewell statement referred to Kamala Harris to some extent and she herself expressed her willingness, the leaders of the Democratic political camp do not repeat this message at all, on the contrary – they also point to other names. I think that in the coming weeks we will also witness discussions or fights in the Democratic camp about the choice of candidate. In my opinion, this will not increase the chances of the Democrats to win, because the final time to conduct the campaign will be shorter and shorter.
– says Przydacz, emphasizing that time is against the Democrats:
This uncertainty will certainly be exploited by Republicans, especially “Trumpists”, President Trump, who has already criticized President Biden very sharply, and at the same time the Speaker of the House of Representatives has called on the President to resign, arguing that since Biden is unable to campaign or run for victory, he should not hold office. This is the position that many Republicans take today.
The importance of cooperation with the US
I believe that cooperation with any administration in the White House is the most important thing for Poland. It is the Americans who will decide who will be their next president
– says the former head of the presidential Bureau of International Policy.
We have had good relations with both President Trump and President Biden during our administration, they were both in Warsaw.
– but as Przydacz notes, Donald Tusk’s policies look different:
The same cannot be said about Donald Tusk, who had bad relations with the Republicans, as evidenced, among other things, by the malice towards Donald Trump or the photo published by himself in which he pointed “a gun” of fingers at Donald Trump. in an aggressive gesture. I am also critical of the attitude of Radosław Sikorski, who has also repeatedly spoken out very critically about Trump and today proposes Bogdan Klich, who called Donald Trump an unbalanced politician, to become the head of the Polish diplomatic mission in Washington.
