In a co-op shooter Escape from Tarkov has launched a new seasonal event that offers participants great rewards, including unique rewards. Additionally, the event brings three hidden achievements, making it especially interesting for fans of this hardcore PvP shooter. In this guide we will describe the quest chain in detail, tell where to find encrypted flash drives, how to decrypt them and where to install the gyrotachometer and Wi-Fi cameras.
Remark: New event missions appear in the game every day. We will update the guide in a timely manner.
Mysterious in Tarkov
This task is available to everyone from the skier. Just go to the Salespeople section and select Tasks to keep track. It appears even if the trader does not have a checkbox for available tasks.
The skier will ask you to grab one of the skiers distributed in the area encrypted flash drives. They usually appear in the following places:
- Map indexes;
- Safes;
- Jackets (rarely).
When searching, you may confuse a standard (secure) flash drive with an encrypted one. The required item will be marked with a yellow icon, as shown in the screenshot above.
Advice: collect all available flash drives as they are needed to complete the next quests in the chain.
Once you find a similar item, hide it in your bag and take it out. Give the found item to the skier to receive your reward.
Break through the defense
You do not need to do anything with this task. Just give the memory card to the mechanic and wait for a new quest to appear. To continue its execution, you must complete the following mechanic activities:
- Difficulties in decoding. Part 1.
- Difficulties in decoding. Part 2.
- Difficulties in decoding. Part 3.
Soon you will have the opportunity to decrypt the flash drive in your hideout. For this you need at least the first Intelligence Center and 15 minutes of real time. Give the flash drive to Skier or Peacemaker to complete the quest.
Remark: Depending on your choice, the next task will be changed. We recommend giving the flash drive to the skier, as his quest will be much easier to complete.
Difficulties in decoding. Part 1
The technician will try to decipher the data, but will encounter difficulties. To help the merchant, you need to find the following items:
- SSD drive (3);
- Central processor (5);
- RAM memory (5).
All of these consumables can be found when inspecting system units. Most of these items can be found in the ‘Endoument’ location, but keep in mind that other players will be looking for them as well. We keep electronics on hand for such cases, so that we could immediately give away a number of parts.
Difficulties in decoding. Part 2
After completing the previous task, the mechanic will give players a military gyrotachometer and a flare (yellow). You need to go to the “Reserve” location, place the tachometer in a metal box on the radar and fire a yellow signal cartridge. It sounds simple, but in reality you will probably encounter other gamers trying to complete this quest as well.
If you have a Red Rebel Ice Axe, we recommend that you bring a roll of Paracord so that if you successfully spawn, you can use it for the ‘Cliff Descent’ exit, which is directly behind the radar.
We also recommend that you hide the military gyrotachometer in your bag, but you don’t have to worry about the yellow fire: it is sold at affordable prices at dealers. Climb to the roof of the radar station and find a metal box. Installing the device takes 25 seconds.
Then return to the roof of the building and shoot a fireball into the air. A message should appear in the lower right corner indicating the completion of the quest.
Difficulties in decoding. Part 3
There will be no problems with this task: you need to go to customs and clear this location of ten Scavs. How and when you do this is up to you. After completing the task, don’t forget to collect the reward and continue the quest.
Second try
At the beginning of the guide, we advised to collect all the encrypted flash drives found in raids – they will be useful in completing this task. You must collect at least 10 of these items to receive decrypted documents.
Where can I find flash drives? As previously mentioned, inspect safes, filing cabinets, and coats. For example, we actively explored the dormitories at Customs. There are five safes, two filing cabinets and quite a few coats. In one raid you can easily take out 2-3 flash drives.
Another vehicle, ‘Decryption’, will also appear in the Intelligence Center. Each new run lasts exactly 10 minutes of real time.
Photo hunt
The quest is available if you decide to give the drive to the skier instead of the peacemaker. You need to go to the Epicenter location and place four WiFi cameras in the TerraGroup building. Here you can place them:
Enter through the main entrance and go up the stairs on the left. Here is a wooden shield behind which you need to install the camera.
Walk through the hallway to the parking lot. Here you see two doors, between which there is a corpse. The camera must be installed so that both the parking lot and the doors are visible. To do this, place it in a flowerbed opposite the entrance.
Return to the main entrance and turn left at the farthest stairs. In a dead end lies a corpse, which has a 100% chance of appearing with the key to office No. 4 on the second floor.
Go to the second floor and enter office #3 (it’s unlocked). In the center of the room on the left, look for a double closet. This is where you need to install the camera.
Use the found key to open the door of office No. 4, then turn left and go to the window. The camera should be placed in the corner between the table and the window.
Remark: The last bookmark location may differ for some players. Focus on the quest description.
There is no need to survive in the location, so even if you die, you can still hand the task over to the skier.
Forgotten acquaintance
This time the mechanic’s mission can be taken over. It will become available after completing the Skier of Peacemaker mission at the Epicenter location. The trader asks to find the refuge of the fugitives who managed to escape from the TerraGroup people. It is located in the area of cottages in the Mayak location.
On this map there are three large houses on the right side of the location. You want an average home with a large garage and a few rooms on the second floor. Go up the stairs and interact with the leftmost door (press Knock Down). At this point the quest will be completed. In fact, the location can also be determined by the image of the quest in the description (view of the room from the window).
Search for information
We return to the Mechanic with the news and receive another assignment. Now you need to use all means to enter the previously found room and find the hard drive for decryption. The description states that you can find former USEC PMC fighters nearby to get the key to the door, but after several raids we found no one.
The easiest way to enter the room and pick up the item is to jump from the cliff to the roof of the building, then run along the canopy and smash the window.
The hard drive is located between the bed and the cupboard. It can also appear on bookshelves, windowsills, and on the opposite side of the bed under the blanket.
Steeplechase / Obstacle destruction
The quest becomes available through the skier/peacemaker (depending on which path you took). Within this framework, players are asked to destroy one million special Scavs that spawn at the ‘Shore’ location. The counter adds up the number of kills of all players:
We conducted several raids and found the Peacekeeper people (as we followed the skier’s path) in the smugglers’ area, which is located at the top left of the map. However, you can probably also encounter them in other places.
The bots are not much different from the standard Scavs, except that they wear body armor and sometimes a blue UNTAR helmet. Moreover, they are well armed. We encountered enemies with HK G36, AUG and other weapons.
