IN Enhrouded can be played alone, but the game really comes into its own when in the company of friends. However, one of you who created the world will have to be online and hosting all the time. To avoid being tied to one player, you can create a dedicated server that is accessible to everyone at any time. In this guide, we will tell you how to create and configure a secure dedicated server, as well as other methods available.

How to set up a dedicated server
Download the official dedicated server app. It will be in your Steam library if you purchased the game.
Then follow these steps:
- Start “Enshrouded Dedicated Server”;
- Copy the public IPv4 address and save it in a notebook. It will come in handy later;
- Close the command prompt;
- Click RMB on “Enshrouded Dedicated Server” in your library, select “Check” and click “View local files”;
- Find “wrapped_server.json” and open it with a text editor (Notepad);
- Change the server name and password, save and close the file. Use a strong password if you want to make the server available online.
How to set up a firewall
For stable operation, you need to configure a firewall and open several ports. To do this, find the default application “Windows PowerShell” on the menu “Get started” or use “Search”. Click RMB to the application and run it as an administrator. Paste the following code and click Enter:

Once all commands are completed, you can close this application. These steps are sufficient to ensure that the created server is only visible on your local network.
How to set up port forwarding
If you want the server to be visible online, you must configure port forwarding. Use the command line to find your router’s IP address:
- Click “Win+R”;
- Enter CMD and click OK;
- To write ipconfig and confirm with Enter.
The default gateway is now your router’s IP address and you can access its settings. Save the IPv4 address so you can enter it if necessary. Open the router’s control panel by typing into the browser’s search bar “192.168.0.1” or “192.168.1.1” without quotes. If you need to enter your username and password, use “administrator” or the data you received when setting up the device or that is on the router.
Find your port forwarding settings (application and game settings are also common). There should be a button “Add line”. In the new menu, select the following settings:
- IP Address (Destination) – the local IP address of your computer that you previously saved;
- Gates Incoming And Outbound — lower limit 15636 and upper limit 15637;
- Protocols – TCP And UDP.
Now you can start a special server, which will appear in the game lists after a short delay.
Remark: If there are multiple access points between your main router and your PC, you will need to configure port forwarding rules for each of them. To make installation easier, connect your device directly to your main router.
How to add a server to favorites
To connect to a server faster, you can add it to your favorites. To do this, do the following:
- Open Steam.
- Click “Display” in the top left corner and then select “Game servers”.
- Go to the tab “The chosen one” and click “+” At the bottom.
- Enter the IPv4 address you saved when you started “Enveloped dedicated server”.
- Click OKso that the server appears in the list.
Once the server appears in the list, connect to it using the password you created earlier. This menu can also be used to quickly log into the server, ignoring the game menu.
One of the disadvantages of this method is that the computer on which the server is created must always be turned on. When the equipment is turned off, the server is not accessible to other players.
How to create a paid server
If the method described above does not work for you, or you want to create a server that will run 24/7 without loading your computer, then you can purchase a special server from official suppliers through the game menu. This has several advantages, such as reduced ping, but also extra protection against DDOS attacks. GPortal is the main service provider for the Enshrouded game and you can access their website from the in-game menu. The price per server depends on the number of players.
How to create your own world
After starting the game, click “Play” and select “Host” mode. You can create a world that can accommodate up to 16 players at a time for free, but you must be in the game. Enter a good password and send your friends an invitation to the server. In “Closed” mode you can create a world or continue exploring, but alone.
