Healing within God of War: Ragnarok is a complex process. Unlike other actions, eg. Devil May Cry 5 or Elden Ring, the player cannot carry additional items that restore the main character’s health. In this guide, we will describe all available healing methods in the game.
How to heal in God of War: Ragnarok. Is it possible to find permanent healing potions

Throughout the game, the user searches for a variety of materials, but is unable to find a permanent method of treatment in the form of healing potions and other artifacts. In this case, you only need to rely on the current amount of health left at the start of the battle.
God of War: Ragnarok is not a particularly difficult game, so the developers have come up with several special ways to restore health points. With their help, each player can heal himself, not only between battles and in battle.
The basic healing process is similar to God of War (2018): while fighting monsters and opening chests, Kratos and Atreus will find green crystals called healing stones. In most cases, with the help of them it is possible to restore health. These items are easy to find throughout the game, even while battling various bosses.
These small items will almost always be around, but they aren’t the only way to heal characters. A little later, the player will have access to new methods to replenish his health. This happens around the same time as a slight increase in combat difficulty.
How healing works. Healing stones, enchantments, armor and resurrection

In God of War Ragnarok, Kratos and Atreus have green health bars, a standard part of the game interface, as in most other projects. It is they who determine the duration of the battle and the ability of the heroes to survive a collision with the enemy. When receiving a large amount of damage, the player will die. You can prevent the rapid depletion of the heroes’ vital resources with the help of healing.
The simplest method of treatment, as mentioned above, is the activation of healing stones. They are presented in the form of ordinary crystals, glowing green. This type of item can drop from enemies, appear in small chests, and fall when various environmental items are destroyed. When used, healing stones return a small amount of health to Kratos and Atreus. Once the item is used, it will immediately disappear from the ground.
Please note that there is no exact indication of the amount of health restored – each stone has a unique healing power. Some of them will give the hero a large amount of vitality, while others increase the health bar only a little.
How to increase the effectiveness of stones

The player can increase the effectiveness of green gems by using the Raven’s Tears armor set in combat. Collecting the entire set is only possible after the destruction of all of Odin’s ravens. After that, you need to go to Niflheim, open the chests near the tree and put on the appropriate armor. The health recovery stat is increased exponentially when using multiple parts of the hazmat suit, by 15% and 30% respectively.
In addition, the chest part of the armor allows you to generate a healing mist. Later, towards the end of the storyline, it will be possible to activate an enchantment that gradually restores the health of the characters over time. They are very useful and effective in difficult battles.

At the beginning of the game, we recommend that you pay attention to Nidavellir’s armor, which is the “Best Chest of Nidavellir”. Using this artifact, the player can replenish a small amount of health after activating spectacular finishing moves from opponents. The increase is insignificant, but can save Kratos from certain death.
It is also worth noting that outside of battle, with a critically low level of the hero’s vitality, health will automatically restore to the minimum level after a short time. In this case, the green bar is filled to about 25%.

After the character’s death for a short period of time (about five seconds), the player is given the option to activate the Resurrection Stone. In this case, Atreus will run to Kratos and bring him back to life. This artifact is the only healing item that can be purchased from Blacksmiths. According to the story, the player will receive the specified resurrection stone after visiting Sindri and Brok’s house. In the presence of a stone, it is necessary to have time to trigger the action in time. The higher the quality of such an artifact, the more health it heals upon respawn.
Using anger to heal

Fury of Kratos and Atreus can also be used as a heal. This feature will be unlocked through the story in the early chapters, much earlier than in God of War 2018. As the story progresses, other variations of rage will emerge. They provide different effects, and the first two are responsible for healing:
- Fury – when the mode is activated, the hero starts to heal. Dealing damage to opponents allows the player to recover more health in a short time.
- Courage – will open much later in the story after meeting Vanadis. At the end of the battle and the cutscene that follows, Kratos unlocks this feature. In this case, the anger counter is divided into several small segments. When this ability is activated, the hero will immediately restore some of his health. As the game gets more difficult, this rage variant will greatly help the player to escape from difficult battles.
Treatment tips

Note that Healing Stones and Valor Mode will come in handy in the most unlikely game situations. These are the main healing methods in the game. Be careful in battles not to lose a lot of health. If the battle becomes very difficult, the player can change the difficulty in the game settings as a last resort. As a result, you lose less health and find more healing stones.
Look out for attacks with extra bivrest damage. Such strokes heal much more slowly. While under the influence of this effect, the player will lose a lot of health if they take the same damage again. Due to the existing combat system, the player has to take his current health condition seriously and try to save every part of it.
