Princess Diana’s diamond cross is up for auction in London 14:21

The purple diamond cross worn by the late Princess of Wales will be the centerpiece of Sotheby’s annual royal jewelery auction. writes about it WWD.

Attallah Cross is named after Naeem Attallah, former CEO of luxury goods company Asprey & Garrard. She had this jewel which was passed on to her daughter Ramsay.

“Princess Diana and my father were friends. I remember visiting him often at the historic Garrard store on Regent Street, where his office is located, and asking him several times to borrow the pendant. He loved this decoration,” Attallah said.

The princess wore this piece in October 1987 at the premiere night of Birthright charity, which works to protect women’s rights during pregnancy and childbirth.

Created by Garrard jewelers in the 1920s, the cross is estimated to weigh between £80,000-120,000. The total diamond weight of the cross is about 5.25 carats. After Princess Diana’s death, the cross was never displayed to the public.

The auction will take place in London from January 6-18.
