New 2024 Season at Teatro Castelar in Elda

The Elda Castelar Theater has unveiled its fresh programming for the first half of 2024. The announcement was made by Rosa Vidal, a member of the Cultural Council. She emphasized an eclectic lineup meant to captivate audiences from Elda and nearby towns. And she reminded listeners that the audience would always have the final say when curtain time arrives. The aim is to fill the theater’s seats, a cherished jewel the community can be proud of.

Rosa Vidal was joined by Mave Verdú, a local designer from Eldense, who crafted the program poster and the anniversary logo for Teatro Castelar. Verdú highlighted the caliber of the season, noting that it features top actors and actresses such as José María Pou, Isabel Ordaz, Marcial Álvarez, and Marta Valverde. The season also presents playwrights like Eduardo Galán and Juan Carlos Rubio, along with prestigious Valencian Community companies including Otradanza and Yllana Teatro, who consistently bring fresh and compelling works.

On the musical front, the program promises memorable moments with a visit from Ángel Stanich and a nod to the eighties, accompanied by the Swing Machine Orchestra. The program maintains a strong family appeal with children’s shows, puppet theater, and musicals suitable for all ages. For fans of stand-up and monologues, the season will feature performances from rising talent and respected performers alike, including the comedian and influencer David Cepo, who is already a familiar face to many fans.

Rosa Vidal underscored the theater’s milestone: Castelar Theater will celebrate 120 years of history and 25 years since its reform, a history and a spark that feel more vibrant than ever. The season is presented as a bridge between tradition and the future, offering a first‑class slate of events.

Regarding Mave Verdú’s involvement, the councilor explained that a strong program needs posters with visual energy that invite participation. Verdú was instrumental in shaping the anniversary logo and the program’s visual identity. The councilor also expressed gratitude to Verdú and to the entire theater team, especially Antonio Bautista, for their work and dedication.

Verdú commented on the project, noting that the brief she received was engaging. She selected a cast of quirky characters to underscore the idea that the audience is the real protagonist. If the audience were not present, the story of the theater over the past 120 years would be told differently. Verdú aimed to create something innovative and groundbreaking, and she feels that goal has been achieved.

Tickets for all season shows are now available. They can be purchased through Servientradas at the address www.servientradas.com or via the Castelar Theater site at agendaelda.com/index.html.
