federation

Federació Alacantina de Corda Polsada Mar i Muntanya brings together the majority of pulse and plectrum orchestras and folkloric rondallas in the province of Alicante. The aim is to encourage and advance the musical interests of the many players who perform with bandurrias and lutes, instruments deeply rooted in Alicante and across Spain.

orchestral repertoire

One of the orchestra’s goals is to reach a broad audience through a diverse repertoire and the adaptation of a wide range of works for plectrum instruments. The program typically features classical works, arrangements for orchestra and guitar, zarzuela and lyric selections, and pieces written specifically for a plucked-string ensemble.

In recent years, with the discovery of archival material from the historic Alicante orchestra Pulse and the selection of works from the early 20th century, La Wagneriana has dedicated efforts to studying and transcribing many of these pieces for their ensemble. A number of works by local composers from Alicante were revived, some previously unpublished. Wagneriana has also recorded more than a dozen albums and performed at prominent venues around the country, contributing to the province’s musical heritage.
