Performance Circuit: Campania de Teatre del Mediterrani Returns to Alicante
The sixth edition of the Campania de Teatre del Mediterrani continues its collaboration between the Fundación Mediterráneo and the European Union, with extended programming through the summer season in Alicante. The program now runs from June into July, featuring performances at 19:00 in the Fundación Mediterráneo Alicante Cultural Hall, located at Avda. Doctor Gadea, 1.
The first theatre block of the summer debuts with a production by the Tossal Theater Culture Association from Benidorm. This tragicomedy, adapted from a classic by Federico García Lorca, follows a plot where a wealthy, aging man hires a young woman to be his wife. Tensions rise when the young woman’s partner discovers what has occurred.
Summer schedule continues on July 6 with Argo Ship, a company based in Alicante, presenting a modern adaptation of Antigone. The Denia ETC Company will perform a humorous piece on July 20, marking the last show of the month. The season closes July with Ron Carter’s reflective work staged at La Baranda Theater in Elche, on July 27.
The Campania de Teatre del Mediterrani aims to promote and support the non-professional performing arts sector within Alicante province. The president of the Mediterráneo Foundation, Louis Boyer, stated that the campaign highlights the enduring tradition of popular theatre and its contribution to the broader performing arts landscape. The festival features a total of 15 performances by various non-professional companies from across the province and will continue its run through November.
Tickets are priced at six euros and can be purchased online at entries sites or at the venue box office.
