this electronic music festival and music production ENSOlab it’s making a comeback this year and will celebrate its sixth edition from yesterday to Saturday. Cigarettes of Alicante. co-produced by the consorci de museus and the Alicante Department of Culture, this multidisciplinary initiative blends music, art, technology, and sound documentation into a single immersive experience. ENSOLab spans three days of advanced and experimental music, cutting-edge visual art, and scientific and technological showcases, featuring a full program that includes master classes, performances, rare sessions, and roundtables, all with free access. The poster for this edition spotlights leading artists from the contemporary music scene, including Cachito Turulo (appearing yesterday), Ceephax Acid Crew, Earth, Pyramid, Alpha Decay, and the sessions Yugen Kala and Mbodj.
“This festival places Alicante on the national and international map of electronic music and musical experimentation and brings new contemporary languages closer to the people,” remarks José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the Consorci de Museus.
Two masterclasses take place this afternoon, the first with Alpha Decay, Ambre Laparra’s project, which has released its debut EP, and the second with Pirámide & Luca Vólkov and Ichbinmupi, who will present a live performance later, followed by another session from Alpha Decay. the event promises a dynamic mix of theory and live exploration.
On the final day of ENSOLab 2022, rare sessions will feature Mbodj, the alter ego of Barcelona-based DJ and cultural organizer Maguette Dieng, and the Vigo-born duo Yugen Kala (Héctor and Nico Iglesias). The festival will close with live performances by Territoire, the collaboration between composers and producers Olivier Arson and Andy Jenkinson, also known as Ceephax Acid Crew.

Metal Queen
Today at 20:30, the stage at Teatre Arniches in Alicante welcomes dancer Vanesa Aibar and percussionist Enric Monfort for their mixed-performance piece La Reina del Metal, an act where metal itself becomes an instrument alongside flamenco. Aibar, a dancer and creator from Jaén, has evolved from traditional Spanish dance and flamenco into a contemporary, free-form aesthetic, while Monfort from Castellón identifies as a musician, researcher, and sound collector. Their collaboration finds a shared ground between movement, percussion, and electronic textures, weaving flamenco references with experimental sound design.
Flamenco Festival in Villena
Villena hosts La Atalaya Flamenco Festival from the 28th to the 30th, with free performances at the Patio de la Casa del Festero. The program begins tonight at 20:00 with Rancapino Chico. At 22:30, local cantaora Paola Sánchez appears with a six-piece ensemble to present a unique repertoire blending flamenco with fusion. On Saturday, Lin Cortés — now one of the world’s most recognized flamenco fusion artists — returns to Villena, performing Uña y Carne in the evening. The festival concludes next Sunday at noon with a Lunares flamenco jazz performance.
Kela presents “El Mirall”
Euterpe hosts the second Circuit Viu! concert tonight, organized by the singer-songwriter collective hand of Kela. This project emerges from a drive to push beyond traditional chansons and explore new musical territories. After years composing original songs and transforming them with his acoustic guitar, the artist pivoted, leaving his doctor’s practice to focus on music with a modern electronic edge. He is presenting his debut album, El Mirall, which blends intimate songwriting with electronic energy. Tickets run 5 € in advance and 8 € at the box office.
Aid concert against cancer in Tibi
Saturday at 19:00, the Tibi auditorium hosts a benefit concert titled “Cancer Does Not Discriminate,” featuring Hermanas, Ainhoa Cantalapiedra (OT 2 winner), Aurora Guirado, Mia Walla, DJ, and singer-songwriter Inma Serrano, with tickets priced at 10 euros.
Marshal, wildly fragile
On Sunday at 19:30, Cádiz-born singer-songwriter Fran Mariscal returns to the stage at Sala Euterpe (Sant Joan) to present her latest album, Wildly Fragile. Known for a distinctive, rasping vocal tone and inventive compositions, Mariscal will offer a performance shaped by intimate storytelling and bold musical experiments.
