A veteran singer from Zaragoza, Enrique Bunbury, announced that a throat and heart condition would force the cancellation of his current tour. He explained that this weekend’s performances would not go ahead in both Spain and the United States, stressing that the situation involved significant pain and is beyond his control.
In Chicago, Bunbury shared in a formal statement that he could not continue the tour, including the upcoming show at Rosemont. He described the decision as something entirely outside his control and against his wishes, emphasizing the severity of his health concerns.
With a heavy heart, he said there would be no more concerts for the time being. He acknowledged that many fans had already purchased tickets for what had been a sold-out North American leg as well as the Spanish leg, both of which were intended to match the momentum of the tour’s initial success.
The artist explained that when the “Last Tour” announcement was made two months earlier, commitments in the United States and Spain had already been arranged. He noted that arrangements in Latin America had progressed more quickly because no deals had been finalized there yet, yet the current circumstances required a different approach.
As a result, Bunbury and his ensemble decided to scale back the tour across both the United States and Spain. The plan was to leave more time between remaining performances and to maximize their ability to respond to the audience’s voice during this challenging period.
Reminiscing on the early shows of this farewell tour, Bunbury recalled two remarkable performances in New York and Atlanta that set a high bar for both the audience and the performers. He described those nights as moments of shared pride and immense emotion, underscoring the connection between the artist and his fans.
At fifty-four years old, Bunbury expressed gratitude for the understanding shown by his supporters during what he called a painful moment for himself and the entire team. The Zaragoza-born performer intended to conclude the U.S. leg on a careful note and continued to reflect on the forthcoming schedule.
Plans for the tour originally included a series of stops across major U.S. cities such as Chicago, Houston, El Paso, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Anaheim. The European arc was also significant, with dates in Cádiz and a wide spread across Spain, including Murcia, Mallorca, Málaga, Pontevedra, Alicante, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Zaragoza, Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Valencia. The entire itinerary highlighted Bunbury’s enduring appeal and the strong bond forged with fans who have followed his journey through the years.
