Two hundred voices and a hundred musicians join to form an orchestra accompanied by a choir for a concert at a future date. This premise named Dreamers in White emerged as a solidarity project during three editions at the Madrid National Auditorium and now, for the first time, moves to Alicante. The show was initially slated for Alicante in April 2020, but the outbreak of the epidemic halted the initiative. The organizers remain confident that the project will come to life, noting at the MARQ presentation in Alicante that the moment has finally arrived.
The project is guided by conductor Ramon Torrelledo and GMP Basís. To realize this distinctive performance, the Marjal Foundation has allied with the Provincial Council and the Alicante City Council, planning the event at ADDA on April 22. All proceeds will support associations in Alicante and Madrid, including APSA and down from Madrid.
The selection process is still open. Although more than half of the orchestra and choir have already been chosen, there is still time to join this gigantic concert that will unite musicians under one roof. The program blends Tchaikovsky with habanera rhythms, a tradition closely tied to Torrevieja and reflected in the name Dreamers in White: Habaneras Era.
Participants are chosen through video submissions online. Volunteer musicians or singers who work with Torrelledó and want to participate can apply at www.somosdreamers.org, where they can read the bases and complete a form.
After the orchestra and the entire choir are selected, the chosen performers will undergo five days of rehearsal with the director who will visit their studios in the City of Light.
Torrelledó stated that this is a project like no other in the world, a first‑rate concert with a strong solidarity component. The hope is that musicians and choirs from the province of Alicante will join the initiative.
tickets
Tickets for the concert are available through Instanticket for 26 euros. Those who cannot participate but wish to support the initiative can donate via Bizum to 01517 or by transferring to the IBAN ES46 3058 2633 5627 2000 8096 with the concept DREAMERS 2023.
solidarity projects
The two beneficiary projects share a single goal: improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. In the APSA program, funds from this initiative will support two pioneering education and employment projects for young people with intellectual disabilities at risk of exclusion. This marks a new venture for APSA, which will extend Dreamers in White to Guardamar del Segura and Crevillente for the first time, creating opportunities for diverse individuals in these communities.
