Volunteers and musicians who form Dreamers in White’s temporary benevolent orchestra began rehearsals this week under the baton of conductor Ramón Torrelledó. The upcoming concert, set to take place in Alicante, is a collaboration with the Marjal Foundation and the Gmp Foundation and is scheduled for April 22. The event aims to raise funds for APSA associations in Alicante and for initiatives in Madrid, supporting people in need across regions.

After confirming the participant roster, rehearsals commenced with a group of selected voices and instrumentalists. Ramon Torrelledó will visit various ensembles to observe and encourage the groups. Rehearsals started yesterday with the Alicante Rotarian Choir at the parish building of the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás de Alicante, and this afternoon featured the Torrevieja Choir. Tomorrow, the Seneca Choir and the Alicante ICALI Choir will join. In addition, joint sessions are planned at the Ciudad de la Luz facilities for all orchestra members beginning next Tuesday.

They are seeking 300 musicians and singers for a one-of-a-kind Alicante concert.

In total, 200 voices and instrumentalists will participate after three successful editions at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid. The concert, drawing on the Habaneras era, will donate all proceeds to two projects that directly improve the lives of people with mental and physical challenges.

Two beneficiary programs will receive 100% of the collections from Dreamers in White. The Habaneras initiative focuses on people with intellectual disabilities who aspire to improve their living conditions.

Asociación APSA will use the funds raised to create two pioneering education and employment programs for young people with intellectual disabilities at risk of exclusion. This project stands out for its scope and its collaboration with Dreamers in White, whose initiatives began in 2020 and gained new momentum after the pandemic’s disruptions. The plan includes establishing social enterprises in Guardamar del Segura and Crevillente to expand opportunities for people with functional diversity in these regions.

APSA will design a targeted preparatory program with expert professionals, in partnership with the social services of both communities. It will explore employment possibilities in fields such as gardening, administrative support, cleaning, and maintenance. The overarching goal is to equip a large group of young people with practical skills through a blend of theory and hands-on training, boosting social inclusion, workforce participation, and overall quality of life.

Another project coordinated with Dreamers in White aims to enhance autonomous living for 80 individuals with intellectual disabilities through the use of digital technologies. The initiative emphasizes building social and emotional skills, self-determination, and independence, helping participants navigate daily life with increased confidence and support.
