Alicante takes center stage as the host city for this weekend’s major e-sports championships. The Dragonlands World Championship, a pinnacle event for Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics, runs from Friday through Sunday inside the Digital District at Ciudad de la Luz. The competition showcases strategic play and high-level micro decisions in a grand setting designed to amplify the intensity of the clashes on the Nexus.
GGTech Entertainment serves as the production powerhouse for the event. A 500-square-meter stage has been installed within one of the Distrito Digital venues, forming a dynamic hub for Dragonlands action during the 2022 season and beyond. The production team has crafted a visually striking setup featuring four colossal dragons, each more than six meters long, assembled as the centerpiece of a dramatic stage that pays homage to the fantasy world behind Teamfight Tactics. This striking installation, known as Masters of Fire, stands as a monument within the Valencia Community, underscoring the region’s growing role in international esports. Alongside the scenic elements, the setup includes more than 180 devices, a 40,000-watt power system, an advanced intercom network suited for large live events, and a 16-meter crane to support camera and stage operations.
Players from 11 countries
The championship gathers 33 players from 11 nations, including Poland, Hungary, France, the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, and Turkey. These competitors will vie for the title of world champion in Team Fight Tactics, delivering a display of precision, adaptation, and strategic depth that fans expect from a world-class event.
The competition carries a substantial prize pool, with up to $456,000 up for grabs. The winner receives $150,000, followed by $75,000 for the runner-up and $25,000 for third place. This prize distribution highlights the stakes and rewards the most consistent performers across the weekend’s battles.
