Carlos Crespo will depart from Inditex by the end of the year, stepping away from his role as part of a broader leadership renewal. He has been a central figure in the company since July 2019, when he took on the responsibilities of Operations, Sustainability and Digital Transformation as part of a strategic refresh that accompanied a renewal of the management team.
The company informed the National Securities Market Commission that Crespo will leave the Galician group to begin a new chapter in his professional journey.
With Crespo’s exit, Isla’s trusted lieutenant will transition out as the organization completes its ongoing internal restructuring. Since April of last year, Marta Ortega has held the presidency, and Óscar García Maceiras has served as chief executive since November of the previous year.
The company noted that Crespo’s departure follows a period in which he played a highly visible role in shaping and supporting the transition plan. Although he stepped back from the top executive position at the end of last year, Crespo remained actively involved in the design and strategic execution of the transformation program. The leadership team acknowledged his substantial contribution to both the design and implementation of the process as well as his long-standing, exemplary service within the group, spanning more than two decades and marked by responsibilities at the highest level.
In November 2021, as Marta Ortega and Óscar García Maceiras were announced, Crespo joined the Management Committee alongside Pablo del Bado Rivas, Miguel Díaz Miranda, Ignacio Fernández Fernández, Javier García Torralbo, Begoña López-Cano Ibarreche, Beatriz Padín Santos, Jorge Pérez Marcote and Óscar Pérez Marcote.
In the committee, Crespo will be replaced by Javier Losada, the group’s Director of Sustainability. Inditex states that Losada’s inclusion underscores the company’s steadfast commitment to sustainability and its broader drive to support the transformation of the fashion industry toward more responsible practices and circularity.
Losada has been with the Inditex Group since 1993 and has led Sustainability since 2019. Before that role, he directed Risk Management and Planning and Management Control responsibilities.
Crespo started his career in auditing and joined Inditex in 2001 as head of accounting policy within the financial management department. He later oversaw the administrative management of stock in the group’s logistics centers and, in 2005, assumed responsibility for directing internal audits. He held this position until 2018, when he was appointed CEO of the group, a role he held until July 2019 when he moved into the duties associated with Operations, Sustainability and Digital Transformation.
This leadership transition aligns with Inditex’s broader narrative of strengthening governance, advancing sustainable practices, and sustaining growth across its global network. The company continues to emphasize governance clarity, strategic resilience, and a steady hand at the helm as it navigates market dynamics and evolving consumer expectations.
