The volume of grain moved from Ukraine through the Black Sea is projected to range from two to five million tons each month. This assessment comes from the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which coordinates the grain-export corridor and provides updates on the activity of the involved ports.

Following the launch of the full-scale implementation of the agreement for the safe sea transport of Ukrainian grain, the combined export capacity of the three Ukrainian ports participating in the corridor is expected to exceed two million tons per month, potentially reaching up to five million tons. The coordinating body stated this in its official briefing, underscoring the potential impact of the corridor on global grain supply.

Global customers will begin receiving shipments of Ukrainian grain once these operations proceed from the ports to international markets. Logistics and port handling are structured to move the grain efficiently from export terminals to importing regions around the world, ensuring consistent delivery and traceability throughout the supply chain.

In early August, Taras Kachka, the Deputy Minister of Economy and a Trade Representative of Ukraine, indicated that other export commodities, including metal, should be incorporated into the sea-export framework established by the Istanbul agreement. This suggestion reflects a broader view of how submerged routes can support a wider range of strategic Ukrainian exports while maintaining safe and reliable shipping standards.

On the same day, Dmitry Patrushev, the head of Russia’s agricultural ministry, noted that revenue targets for grain sales abroad might be adjusted downward this agricultural year. He explained that the ministry is monitoring risks that could prevent achieving a 130 million ton harvest in Russia, highlighting differing dynamics in regional crop production and export strategies in the broader Black Sea region.
