Applications are now open in Moscow for participation in the annual ranking Top 1000 Russian Managers, with a submission window closing on June 15. The 25th anniversary edition will reveal its results on September 24, according to the event organizers’ press service.
The competition welcomes senior executives and heads of core functional areas such as commerce and finance, human resources, marketing, public and corporate affairs, legal, logistics, development, information technology, and investor relations. Eligible participants should be employed within a commercial organization and meet the outlined criteria to compete in this year’s rankings and connections with authorities.
At present, the official classifier includes 18 fields—14 primary areas and 4 special categories—encompassing more than 20 industries. Responding to evolving market needs, two new roles have been added this year: Internal Communications Director and Cyber Security Director. Dmitry Zelenin, President of the Managers Association, notes that the Top 1000 Russian Managers rating serves not only as a performance gauge but also as a strategic analytical tool. Analyzing the results provides insights into industry trends and helps forecast developments in key sectors of the economy.
Last year’s rankings highlighted noticeable shifts in leadership roles, with HR directors increasing participation by 57% and digital transformation directors by 64%. This signals heightened visibility and influence for these positions across Russian businesses, reflecting broader organizational priorities.
Judging criteria focus on commercial reputation and demonstrated contributions to company development. Eligibility requires employment within a commercial enterprise, and no more than one participant from a single company may compete in any given functional area. Candidates must have at least six months in the relevant role, with responsibilities aligned to the chosen field. The administrators for the program include Katerina Kindruk.
The rules also prohibit soliciting votes for any candidate; violations will result in disqualification from the ranking.
