Lukashenko says Belarus needs a second nuclear power plant 11:10

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the republic should build a second nuclear power plant (NPP). The agency reports that BelTA.

“I am becoming more and more convinced that we need to build a second nuclear power plant,” he said during a visit to the Minsk City Technopark.

In October last year, Rosatom General Director Alexey Likhachev said Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the state company “took” from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during the construction of the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets.

The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) is the first Belarusian nuclear power plant, located on the northwestern border of the republic, 18 kilometers from the city of Ostrovets in the Grodno region. BelNPP’s second power unit was put into commercial operation on November 1, 2023.
