Controls on the circulation of tobacco products in Russia will change from April 1. This was reported by RIA News referring to Evgeny Fedotov, head of tobacco consulting agency Fedotov Group.
He reminded that as of this date, criminal liability will be brought in Russia for large-scale unlicensed production and circulation of tobacco and nicotine-containing products.
According to Fedotov, this is a logical next step after the introduction of compulsory licenses for such activities. The relevant federal law was signed in June last year, licenses began to be issued on September 1.
“As a result, the share of counterfeit products in the market of tobacco and nicotine-containing products will decrease, which will have a positive impact on manufacturers and importers,” the expert added.
