Domodedovo Airport could face damages approaching a billion rubles following an incident that damaged the world’s largest passenger liner, the Airbus A380, when it was struck by a water carrier the previous day. This was reported by Life, citing the Shot Telegram channel.
Experts noted that the central section of the fuselage sustained significant skin damage on one side, and the main transverse frame of the side strength structure may have also been affected. With extensive repairs and associated losses, the total cost could near one billion rubles, according to a specialist quoted in the report.
The water carrier arrived at Domodedovo on March 27 and collided with the aircraft, forcing the cancellation of the Moscow–Dubai service. It was later stated that the private driver appears to have mistaken the pedals and steered into the vehicle instead of parking. The incident involved the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in operation.
Subsequently, it was disclosed that the car driver had suffered a stroke. He was rushed to a hospital, and medical teams are working hard to stabilize his condition.
The episode has raised questions about service center processes, with some observers suggesting that higher repair costs might signal fraudulent activity at a vehicle service facility. A pattern of repeated delays in repair timelines has also been proposed as a possible indicator of deceptive practices.
In related industry news, there were earlier reports that AvtoVAZ had updated the Lada Niva Bronto model and adjusted its price accordingly.
