South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia plans to produce 70 thousand cars annually in a facility in Kazakhstan. In this respect reported Press service of the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev after his meeting with the company’s president, Ho-sung Song.
It was noted that the facility will be built in Kostanay in 2025. The project has already attracted investments of 90 billion tenge (about 19 billion rubles at the exchange rate). While the plant plans to produce 70 thousand cars every year, 50 thousand of them will be created using small unit assembly.
Kia’s chairman said the issue of attracting global auto component suppliers is currently being considered. It was also decided to establish an auto spare parts factory in Kazakhstan.

The new product will compete with Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
