Suzuki Grand Vitara

The previous generation Suzuki Grand Vitara crossover ended production in 2016. In the newer generation, which has been in production since 2005, the model uses a unibody design while maintaining strong off‑road capabilities, including a dedicated reduction gear for low-speed torque.

In 2022, Suzuki brought back the Grand Vitara as a crossover tailored for the Indian market.

The revived Grand Vitara was developed in collaboration with Toyota, expanding the Vitara family with a larger, more feature‑rich version that features premium touches such as leather upholstery and a panoramic roof. A Toyota sibling of this model is the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and both are aimed at Africa and India.

In base form, the front‑wheel‑drive Grand Vitara is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 103 horsepower. An all‑wheel‑drive variant with a multi‑plate clutch can feed torque to the rear axle.

From Toyota, the model incorporates a hybrid system with a 92‑horsepower gasoline engine paired with an 80‑horsepower electric motor.

The combined output of this hybrid tandem is not simply the arithmetic sum of the two units; it delivers a total peak power of 115 horsepower, reflecting the electric motor’s contribution in real driving scenarios.

Nissan X-Trail

Nissan has announced the start of fourth‑generation X‑Trail production in Japan. The domestic variant features a hybrid powertrain with a variable‑compression‑ratio gasoline engine, a principle previously used in the Infiniti QX50.

In the X‑Trail, the gasoline engine does not connect directly to the wheels. Instead, it acts as a generator while drive is provided by two electric motors on the front and rear axles.

A traditional gasoline version with a 1.5‑liter engine and front‑wheel drive remains available. Prices in Japan begin at about 3.2 million yen (roughly 1.3 million rubles). A hybrid option adds about 3.5 million yen (roughly 1.5 million rubles).

With production underway in Japan, Nissan plans to broaden X‑Trail’s sales—initially introduced in the US as Rogue and later launched in China—and bring it to the European market in the summer.

The third‑generation X‑Trail has been produced in St. Petersburg, Russia. The facility’s operations paused in the spring of 2022.

Kia Seltos

Three years after its launch, the Kia Seltos compact crossover underwent an update. The restyling brings a new grille, refreshed bumper, and revised lighting design. A notable detail is the trunk lid connection between the taillights.

Technical changes include a new automatic transmission developed for the Seltos in the South Korean market. Instead of a twin‑clutch 7‑speed robotic unit paired with a 1.6‑liter turbo engine, an 8‑speed conventional automatic gearbox is now offered.

Engine power rises to 198 horsepower from the previous 177. The base version continues with a 2.0‑liter petrol engine and a CVT.

Honda Civic

A high‑performance Civic variant has been unveiled by Honda in Japan. The model features a 2.0‑liter turbocharged petrol engine, sport‑oriented styling, and a 6‑speed manual transmission, following the early hot hatch tradition.

Honda has not disclosed full technical specifications yet. It is known that the transmission has been refined and the Civic overall is longer and wider than the prior generation. For the US market, Honda indicates the new Civic Type‑R will sit at the top of the lineup in terms of power.

Chevrolet Seeker

The American automaker has released the first teaser image of a new Seeker crossover. The model is expected to debut globally with a premiere scheduled for July 28 at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Certification data for the Chinese market suggests a length just over 4.5 meters. It is also noted that the Seeker will offer a 1.5‑liter turbo engine delivering 179 horsepower, with a sporty RS version alongside the standard model.

Cadillac Celestiq

The flagship Cadillac in the lineup is the Celestiq. The name was announced two years ago, and the company has now showcased the vehicle in pre‑production concept form.

Celestiq is expected to ride on the GM Ultium platform, designed for electric vehicles across different segments. The GMC Hummer EV already uses this architecture. Specific technical details of the Celestiq have not been released, but the concept features a panoramic roof with lighting customization for each passenger and a cabin with five high‑resolution displays.
