Chery

In 2024 Chery focuses on expanding its NEV sub-brand in Russia by bringing hybrid and electric models to the local market. The brand’s press service outlines a busy year with seven hybrid and electric models slated for release, expanding the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro with plug in variants in the C and D size classes. A mix of smaller and larger crossovers will broaden the lineup, complemented by two electric vehicles. One is a compact A-class urban model and the other a mid-size C-class offering.

Executives say a considerable number of new products are expected for the Chery range next year. For instance, Tiggo 9 and Arrizo 8 are anticipated to hit showrooms in the second quarter, followed by four more introductions later in the year. These include the Chery Tiggo 4, Tiggo 8, plug in hybrid variants, along with Arrizo 8 and Tiggo 7 ideally expanding the portfolio for Russia in 2024.

Jetour, Exeed, Omoda and Jaecoo

The Exeed line, part of the Chery umbrella, is set to bring the Exlantix 03 electric sedan to Russia as a premium option. It began selling in China in late 2023 and is planned to enter the Russian market in 2024. The sedan uses a traction battery of 61 or 100 kWh depending on version, delivering a range of 500 to 700 kilometers and up to 480 horsepower in the top configuration.

Omoda plans to launch the E5 electric crossover in Russia in spring 2024 and will reveal an updated C5 crossover in autumn. Jaecoo, another sister brand, is preparing a large J8 crossover for early 2024 with all wheel drive and a turbo engine producing 249 horsepower. A hybrid version is planned for the fall, and the Jaecoo J7 Hybrid will arrive in Russia in spring. The Jetour brand has announced the Jetour T2 SUV as its first all wheel drive model in Russia, expected in the first quarter of 2024.

The four wheel drive variant designed to rival the Tank 300 and Haval Dargo uses a 2.0 turbo engine delivering 254 horsepower, paired with either an 8 speed hydromechanical automatic or a robotic transmission. Additional new products are anticipated to be announced later by Jetour.

Haval

The Haval brand plans a staged rollout in Russia starting with the compact Haval H3 early in 2024, followed by the brand’s largest SUV, the Haval H5 New, and the Haval F8. The Haval H5 New is expected to premiere in Russia in May, with sales beginning around August, according to notes from the Haval Club Telegram channel referencing dealer conference materials.

Local

Motor.ru notes that 2024 will bring a new 1.8 liter engine for the Lada Niva line delivering 90 horsepower. Whether the Niva Legend or Travel will receive the update remains unclear. The new engine is said to derive from the 1.8 unit used in the Lada Vesta, which itself is slated to receive a 1.8 Evo upgrade in 2024.

Production of the Lada Largus is set to restart. In December a test assembly of the electric e-Largus began at the Izhevsk plant, with mass production of both gasoline and electric variants planned for May. AvtoVAZ targets around 30,000 units of this model in 2024, with the electric version representing a minority share. Sollers, owner of UAZ and the JAC under its own brand, announced plans to broaden the model range in 2024 by introducing new configurations for local markets, aiming to increase component localization. Further updates from UAZ were promised later in the year.

GAC

GAC plans to add four models to its existing two crossovers in Russia during 2024. The M8 minivan and GS3 compact crossover will arrive in the second and third quarters. The M8 is offered with two powertrain options based on a 2.0 turbo engine, including a hybrid variant with 190 horsepower and a gasoline version with 232 horsepower, paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission. The interior seats seven, and the price for the M8 starts around 7.7 million rubles. The GS3, similar in size to the Hyundai Creta, runs on a 1.5 liter turbo engine with 177 horsepower, available with a five speed manual or a robotic transmission. The two additional GAC models for Russia have not been disclosed.

Lebanon is interesting

The Livan brand has announced two new models for the Russian market, including an electric car and a gasoline powered crossover, both expected to appeal to Russia’s popular demand for crossovers.

Oting with Nissan pedigree

Early 2024 will see the Oting Paladin SUV arrive in Russia. Built on the Nissan Terra platform at a Dongfeng Nissan factory in China, it is distributed in Russia by Sinomach, a company known for manufacturing industrial equipment. The Paladin uses a licensed two liter Mitsubishi engine delivering 238 horsepower, paired with an eight speed automatic transmission from ZF. Prices place the rear wheel drive version around 3.8 million rubles, with all wheel drive variants ranging from roughly 4.3 to 4.5 million rubles.

Dongfeng and Evolute

The Dongfeng brand is set to introduce multiple new models across segments and price ranges in 2024 for the Russian market. These include compact, mid size, and full size premium crossovers, as well as a frame SUV. Evolute will begin selling the seven seat i Space crossover as part of these plans.

Trucks

The VGV brand, part of a Chinese truck manufacturer, plans to enter the Russian market in 2024 with two crossovers able to seat up to seven passengers and up to five meters long. Working with the local distributor Motor Place, more than 100 design adjustments have tailored the models for Russia. Specific model names have not been disclosed, but the trio includes VGV U70 Pro and VGV U75 Plus, both powered by turbo engines delivering 156 and 224 horsepower respectively. Expectation for 2024 includes more than officially supplied models, with several parallel-imported vehicles. A new Atlas crossover for Geely is anticipated in the first quarter, followed by the Geely Okavango later in the year, as noted by Avilon. Parallel imports will also bring in Volkswagens such as Tiguan X, Passat, and Tharu early in the year, along with BMW 4 Series variants including M4 in the initial months of 2024.
