Suzuki Unveils a New Grand Vitara Crossover for India, with Global Variants on the Horizon

Suzuki, the Japanese automaker, has introduced a fresh Grand Vitara crossover for the Indian market, as confirmed by the brand’s press office. The announcement marks the return of a Grand Vitara name that previously appeared in Suzuki’s lineup but was discontinued in 2017. This new model enters a competitive segment with a modern design and a choice of powertrains that aim to blend efficiency with performance.

The compact SUV measures 4345 mm in length, 1795 mm in width, and stands 1645 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2600 mm. Its exterior styling is striking thanks to distinctive two-layer headlight clusters and a bold radiator grille. The rear features a continuous LED light strip that links the taillights for a cohesive look. Inside, the Grand Vitara offers a digital experience with a dual-screen cockpit: a 7 to 9 inch touchscreen for the multimedia system and a 7 inch display for the instrument cluster. Comfort and convenience are enhanced by climate control and multi-directional cameras, while the cabin audio is powered by the Arkamys sound system.

Under the hood, the base variant is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 103 horsepower. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, and buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive depending on their needs. A hybrid variant is also on the table, combining the same 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor and a CVT. That hybrid setup delivers 115 horsepower for a more efficient driving experience.

Standard safety and convenience features in the new Grand Vitara include two airbags, a stability system, and keyless entry. In higher trims, buyers can expect a panoramic sunroof, leather-trimmed seats, and a surround-view camera system to aid parking and maneuvering. Sales of the model are scheduled to begin this fall, with the family-friendly SUV aiming to appeal to Canadian and American customers through a broad feature set and a familiar Suzuki reliability story. This approach aligns with Suzuki’s strategy to expand its global footprint while offering a product that resonates with urban and suburban buyers alike. In related news, Geely recently introduced a restyled Binye crossover, which is marketed in several regions beyond its home market under the Coolray name. This development illustrates the broader trend of automakers refining compact crossovers to meet diverse regional tastes and regulatory requirements while maintaining a focus on efficiency, technology, and everyday practicality.
