In February 2024, secondary market activity hit its lowest point in the past year. The standout model in the month’s resale market was the Kia Rio, according to Autostat Information. The data highlights a cautious climate for used car buyers and sellers alike as winter closes.
Registration data show Kia Rio leading February’s re-registrations, climbing 16% higher than February of the previous year. In that single month, about 11 thousand Rio units changed hands. Close behind, the VAZ-2107 accounted for 10.4 thousand re-registrations, while the Lada 2114 totaled 9.7 thousand changes of ownership. Rounding out February’s top performers was the Lada Granta, with 9.6 thousand re-registrations.
Other popular models in the mix included the Hyundai Solaris, Lada Priora, Ford Focus, and Volkswagen Polo. Among brands, Lada led the secondary market by a wide margin with 113.6 thousand re-registrations through February, followed by Toyota with 44.6 thousand and Kia.
