During the week from May 21 to May 27, prices for AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline at Russian filling stations edged down by 0.1%. Prices for AI-98 gasoline and diesel also showed declines, according to Rosstat data reported by RIA Novosti.
This trend continues a pattern that began earlier in March. In the week of March 4 to March 11, AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline first started to drop in price since September 2021, and they have declined on a weekly basis for nearly three months.
On average, AI-92 and AI-95 have decreased by 4 and 3 kopecks per liter, bringing prices to about 47.24 and 51.31 rubles respectively. AI-98 gasoline and diesel also fell, by 1 and 2 kopecks, settling at 60.14 rubles for AI-98 and 54.44 rubles for diesel per liter.
The price reductions appeared across 22 Russian regions, with the Krasnoyarsk Territory recording the largest drop at 1.4%. Rosstat notes that some regions saw price increases, notably Tyumen (excluding autonomous districts) and Kirov, where AI-92 and diesel rose by about 0.4% and 0.1% respectively.
In the capitals, Moscow and St. Petersburg, gasoline prices remained stable over the reporting period.
For the week ending May 29, overall fuel production trends show a rise in gasoline output in Russia by 4.2% year over year to 796.6 thousand tons, while diesel production declined by 2.8% to 1.435 million tons. These shifts in production may influence regional pricing dynamics going forward.
Analysts note that price movements for these fuel grades can reflect a mix of refinery output, regional demand, and seasonal factors. The ongoing weekly declines, where observed, suggest a cautious pricing environment in the domestic market, even as some regions experience small upticks.
