In 2022, online car transactions showed clear national preferences. Imports from Japan accounted for 23 percent of online purchases, Korean brands for 20 percent, and German makes for 19 percent, according to analyses by SberAvto and YuKassa. Domestic models represented 12 percent, American options 8 percent, Chinese cars 8 percent, and French models 6 percent of online sales.
Among brands, Korean manufacturers led the field. Kia and Hyundai each held strong shares, favored by about 10 percent and 9 percent of buyers respectively. Domestic leader Lada followed with around 8 percent, while Nissan and Toyota rounded out the top five.
Regarding Chinese brands, Russian buyers showed distinct preferences: Chery dominated with 44 percent of all Chinese-brand sales, followed by Halal at 14 percent and Yellowish at 13 percent. These labels reflect market segmentation rather than literal model names, illustrating how brand variety shapes consumer choice in the online market.
