BelGee X50 slated to replace Geely Coolray in Belarus and surrounding markets
The initial production batch of the BelGee X50 crossover is set to take the place of the Geely Coolray in the local market, with assembly taking place in Belarus, according to av.by.
Manufactured on the same platform as the Geely Coolray, the BelGee X50 benefits from an extended license granted to the Belarusian partner BelGee by its Chinese counterpart. This license enables the use of locally sourced components and helps shorten the time needed to bring the car to market.
BelGee informed a publication that the Geely Coolray is now out of stock and that the first BelGee X50 units are being prepared for shipment to Belarusian dealers. Plans also include delivery of the model to Russia, though no further specifications about the vehicle were disclosed by the company.
Gennady Svidersky, the General Manager at BelGee, indicated that the crossover bearing a local brand will be priced more accessibly than the original Geely model, making it an attractive option for cost-conscious buyers in the region.
There are indications that a Chinese partner, Chery, is involved in additional plans. A new variant of the Tiggo 7 Pro Max is expected to be introduced to the Russian market, featuring a 1.6 turbo engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel drive to enhance performance and versatility.
