Russian carmaker AvtoVAZ is reportedly preparing to roll out a new vehicle brand within the current year, according to a report by Izvestia that cites internal sources. The coverage indicates that the upcoming brand will feature foreign models in the C and D segments, though the publication notes that the company has not disclosed which international partners it may align with for this venture.
The same report outlines plans for 2025 to complete the preparation phase for the introduction of an affordable model named Lada Iskra. When it reaches the market, Iskra is expected to stand as a new entry that will gradually replace the existing Lada Granta lineup, signaling a shift in the brand’s strategy toward more cost-conscious buyers while maintaining a modern design and updated technology package.
Earlier communications had suggested that AvtoVAZ would continue to offer a limited set of models priced under the one-million-ruble mark. As a result, Russian consumers with a modest budget in the primary market currently have access to select versions of the classic SUV Lada Niva Legend, the Granta sedan and liftback, as well as the Granta Cross. These options reflect the company’s ongoing emphasis on affordability without sacrificing practicality and brand familiarity for budget-conscious buyers.
In a recent product-line update, AvtoVAZ expanded the color options for the Lada Granta by adding a metallic enamel shade described as coriander. The Granta’s palette now comprises five hues: White Glacier, Black Panther, Borneo, Platinum, and Coriander. This refresh aligns with a broader trend in the market toward more expressive exterior styling, offering buyers a greater sense of personalization without altering the core price positioning of the model range.
Additionally, industry observers have noted earlier announcements that five units of the Lada X-Cross were scheduled to arrive at Russian dealerships, signaling continued rollout of cross-utility variants within the Lada family. The timing and location of these deliveries are viewed as part of a deliberate effort to sustain consumer interest in the brand while expanding access to different body styles and powertrain configurations that meet varied driving needs and preferences.
