The crossover developed by AvtoVAZ on the Lada Vesta platform will debut with a fresh silhouette that departs from the appearance of the current model line. This shift is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, based on insights from Evgeny Shmelev, the first vice president of AvtoVAZ. The message underscores a strategic move: leveraging the Vesta platform while delivering a distinctive exterior that clearly differentiates the new crossover from existing products.
Speaking at Barcamp 2023, Shmelev explained that the carmaker is concentrating its efforts on expanding the lineup built around the Lada Vesta platform because it offers a high degree of localization and is tightly controlled by AvtoVAZ. He added that the crossover, which carries the codename Lada B-Cross and sits on this platform, will feature a unique design language designed to stand apart from the current range.
“That doesn’t mean it will resemble Vesta in any way. The model we have just reviewed bears no visual relation to Vesta,” Shmelev noted, reaffirming the separation in both form and branding between the two offerings.
The senior manager also confirmed that the design concept for Lada B-Cross recently received approval from the company’s president, Maxim Sokolov, solidifying the path toward a new silhouette and market positioning. The emphasis is on a modern, SUV-oriented aesthetic that aligns with the brand’s evolving design philosophy while staying true to localization goals that drive cost efficiency and production simplicity.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced plans to release a record number of Lada Grants, signaling an aggressive expansion of its compact model portfolio and a broader push to capture demand across different price segments. This strategic push reflects the company’s effort to balance local manufacturing strengths with the needs of customers in both Russia and neighboring markets, while maintaining a strong emphasis on reliability, accessibility, and value. The overall direction points to a refreshed product family that integrates contemporary styling cues with practical, mass-market engineering, all built around the Vesta platform approach that AvtoVAZ is expanding across its lineup. The information underscores the manufacturer’s commitment to delivering diverse offerings that emphasize localization, efficiency, and a clear distinction between new and existing models, as outlined in industry coverage and company briefings.
