FSUE NAMI intends to commence production of armored all-terrain Aurus vehicles for commercial clients in the near term, a plan confirmed by major Russian industry outlets citing Vadim Pereverzev, the chief designer of the Unified Modular Platform program at FSUE NAMI.

Pereverzev noted that all armored configurations have been assembled by NAMI, and that soon a commercial armored SUV will join the market. The timing for the start of production on these civilian-ready armored models has not been disclosed publicly.

At present, the Komendant SUV sits at the center of the Aurus lineup. Production began at the Yelabuga facility in late November 2022. The model offers a choice of nine exterior colors and seven interior trim styles, and it is equipped with a 598 horsepower V8 engine featuring twin turbocharging.

Earlier statements indicated Aurus’ goal to manufacture 200 Komendant SUVs in 2023, underscoring a broader push toward expanding the brand’s presence in premium, function-forward vehicles.
