The airport equipment fleet at Pulkovo Airport has been replenished with the first Russian-made electric cargo truck EVM PRO, according to the airport’s press service.

Apron service was selected for the test drive, where the vehicle will be used to transport small ground equipment at the airport. The tests will be carried out for two months.

“Pulkovo is a platform for testing innovative solutions and implementing projects aimed at ensuring the technological independence of the airport. The advantages of switching to electric transportation are environmental friendliness and efficiency. In particular, the cost of maintaining such an aircraft is almost 2 times lower,” noted Pavel Kushnirenko, ground services manager of Pulkovo Airport Northern Capital Gateway company.

It is stated that 67 percent of the components of the electric truck are Russian made. The equipment was developed by EM Rus.

“The car is equipped with an electric motor, on-board electronics and software; These are all our own development. EVM PRO has already traveled 1 million km on Russian roads, but this is the first experience of working at an airport,” said Ilya Rashkin, General Manager of EM Rus.

The electric cargo truck is based on the UAZ Profi chassis with a payload capacity of up to 1 tonne. It can travel up to 300 km on a single charge, and the maximum possible speed is 120 km/h. At the same time, the battery life is approximately 750 thousand km. You can charge the car in 2 hours.
