A feature has been discovered in the iOS 16 Release Candidate code that alerts iPhone and iPad users when they connect non-genuine AirPods, informs portal 9to5mac.
Therefore, after updating to iOS and iPadOS 16, when trying to connect fake AirPods, the user receives a notification: “These headphones cannot be identified as genuine AirPods and may not work properly.” At the same time, Apple will not somehow block non-original headphones. The user is only prompted not to connect to the headphones.
Also, clicking the “Details” button will take the user to a site with an Apple support article with detailed instructions to help distinguish and identify AirPods.
It is stated that the system will not “swear” headphones from third-party manufacturers such as Samsung or Xiaomi. Alerts only appear when connecting copies of AirPods that try to emulate Apple’s official protocol.
