The Association of European Football Associations (UEFA) has commented on the decision of the governments of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to ban Russian citizens from entering their country from 19 September 2022.
“Unfortunately, we cannot answer the question of whether players with Russian citizenship can enter tournaments under the auspices of UEFA in countries that prohibit the entry of Russians. This issue is not within the jurisdiction of UEFA. To do this, you must contact the relevant authorities of Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, ”says the press service of the organization “Championship”.
Recall that Russian football players currently play only in local competitions: in the Russian Premier League (RPL) and in the renewed Russian Cup. They are skipping the 2022/23 international season altogether.
