Several flagship stores of Swedish retail chain H&M will continue to operate in Russia after November 30. The newspaper reports “News” citing a source close to company management.
According to the source, stores in Metropolis, Affimol and Tverskaya will continue to operate, they will sell goods that are not sold in other chain stores in Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as the leftovers from the warehouse. Points will work until the entire series is sold.
The company’s support team told the publication that “stores will remain open until most of the merchandise is sold out.”
The newspaper “Kommersant” citing a source on the market WroteH&M had paid nine months’ rent for a store in the Akter Gallery on Tverskaya Street. The retailer also had to pay all fines for non-commercial activities and the late opening of a store in the Columbus shopping center south of Moscow. It is assumed that the amount of demand is about 250 million rubles.
In July, H&M announced that it was withdrawing from the Russian market due to disagreements over the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. The retailer closed all of its stores, but some reopened on August 2 to sell remaining products.
