Hyundai announced the use of humanoid robots in its factory 17:37

South Korean Hyundai automobile manufacturer plans to significantly increase the automation level in new electric vehicles in Georgia. At the end of this year, the company plans to bring the share of robotic operations up to 40%on the assembly line. To achieve this goal, the business will begin to introduce advanced Atlas -like robots developed by Boston Dynamics. About it reports Nikkei Asian Agency.

This step stems from the need for localization of vehicle production in the United States. Such a strategy has become particularly related to potential risks associated with the likelihood of increasing import duties under President Donald Trump, as well as encouraging American production, especially on the basis of President Biden’s administration policy. Production close to the main sales market simplifies logistics and reduces costs.

Considering that the use of Boston Dynamics robots in Hyundai capacities, Korean concern has owed 80% of the shares of this robotic company since 2021, the representatives of Hyundai motor, Atlas Robots will be given to the tasks by the users.

It is also planned to expand the use of traditional industrial robots and other automatic systems from the Boston Dynamics portfolio. In particular, the four -legged spot robot will be included in the monitoring and audit studies in the facility. Although the automotive installation is thought to be traditionally complex for full automation, Hyundai hopes to increase this figure to 50%. The processing of pressure and welding parts will also be automated as much as possible.

An increase in robotization is part of the larger Hyundai investment plan. In March, the company announced its intention to spend about $ 21 billion in the United States in the United States in the next four years. The new facility in Georgia will be designed to produce 100,000 electric vehicles and hybrids every year and plans to increase this figure five times in the future.

In addition to the construction of a new site, Hyundai is expanding its existing assembly facility in Alabama. Together, these measures, according to the results of this year, will allow 1.2 million cars annually in the United States;

North America is the largest sales market for Hyundai. Last year, the world sales of concern decreased by 2% to 7 million units, while sales in the United States increased by 4% to 1.9 million and provided a record income to the company. However, most of the machines sold in the states are still imported from South Korea, which makes it vulnerable to fluctuations in imported tariffs. Currently, Hyundai expects to maintain its current price level in the United States at least by June this year.
