WhatsApp launches “Communities”

WhatsApp developers launched “Communities” in test mode, informs WABetaInfo portal. This feature is available to some users of the public and beta versions of the messenger on Android.

It was noted that the “Communities” tab will replace the “Camera” section. In the new menu, users will be able to create a community of up to 10 groups, each of which can contain up to 512 members.

Community admins will be able to select the groups they want to add or unpin based on their personal preferences without deleting the community. If communities violate the messenger’s terms of use, participants will also be able to submit a complaint to the WhatsApp administration.

Also, WhatsApp developers are reportedly preparing a feature to hide phone numbers in communities so that other members cannot see their user numbers.

Although the novelty appears even for users of the public version of the messenger who update it on the Play Store, the Communities section remains inaccessible for most users. The timing of the function’s appearance is unknown to all users.

Formerly socialbites.ca saidWhatsApp statuses will be displayed in the chat list.
