Mortal Kombat is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. On this occasion, one of the creators of the franchise Ed Boon (Ed Boon) published on their social networks nine facts about this series of fighting games. It’s worth noting that true fans probably know a lot of the information that the creative head of NetherRealm Studios shared.
“We continue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mortal Kombat. This video gives a glimpse of how Sonya Blade came to be, including her famous kick move. On April 10, 1992, we tested an unfinished version of MK (6 fighters in all) in a Chicago arcade called Times Square.is the first fact.
“It’s really bizarre when we see these first arcade test images 30 years later. The test went well, but it became clear that the game needed another fighter. So we went back to work designing, recording and programming the moves for Mortal Kombat’s seventh fighter, Lieutenant Sonya Blade.”is the second fact.
“As for her leg grip, we knew what we wanted, but we didn’t reveal the entire scene to Liz, the motion-shot actress, in a way that was clear enough. So understandably she might have been a little unimpressed. I still remember trying to reassure her that everything would be okay.”is the third fact.
“Liz (Elisabeth Malecki) was a great athlete, very agile and able to do the handstand flip we needed. This move turned out to be one of the most iconic in the entire Mortal Kombat franchise. Imagine how we felt when we saw our technique portrayed on the big screen in the 1995 movie Mortal Kombat.is the fourth fact.
“Some people may not know that Sonia went through several changes before she became the Sonia we know today. Her story begins with Curtis Stryker, a member of the Special Forces.”is the fifth fact.

“Recently John Tobias colored his original sketch of Stryker, with a look reminiscent of Bruce Lee’s Game of Death costume. The idea was that Curtis was undercover when he was in the tournament.”is the sixth fact.

“In the end we decided that our seventh fighter had to be a woman. So the Curtis Stryker (Special Forces) backstory was used for Lieutenant Sonya Blade. Much later, Curtis Stryker was renamed Jackson (Jax) Briggs and introduced in Mortal Kombat 2.”is the seventh fact.

“Curtis Stryker’s name (now spelled with the Latin K in English) was eventually used for the bomb-throwing, club-wielding fighter you know as Stryker, the leader of the riot police in Mortal Kombat 3.”is the eighth fact.

Mortal Kombat characters Sonya and Tanya are named after my sisters of the same namesis the ninth fact.
Remember that a unique edition was recently presented Mortal Kombat 11 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the series. In Spider-Man, the flags have changed again – now in Russian
