Google launched an experiment against a group of fraudsters who participated in the creation and placement of more than 10,000 counterfeit ads in Google Card service. The attackers created imaginary business profiles associated with a global fraudulent network and sold them to make profits. reports CBS News.
The investigation began with the complaint of Texas locksmith, which realized that his personality was used illegally. During the audit, Google set and deleted thousands of counterfeit profiles that seized both fake companies and legitimate accounts.
The attackers targeted users who needed emergency services such as locksmiths or attractive calls. The program also used false examinations and other manipulative tools to create an illusion of trust.
