Kaspersky Lab has announced new attacks by the North Korean hacker group Andariel, targeting, among other things, Russian companies. This is stated in a press release received by socialbites.ca.
Andariel is known to be part of Lazarus, hackers from the DPRK, also referred to by the 2017 WannaCry attack that affected 500,000 computers worldwide. Andariel uses a variant of the well-known DTrack malware alongside the Maui ransomware in his latest attacks.
Companies from the USA, Japan, India, Vietnam and Russia have fallen victim to hackers. It is stated that cybercriminals attack organizations from different fields of activity, and the only condition is a strong financial situation.
“We’ve been following Andariel for years and see his attacks are constantly changing and becoming more sophisticated. It is worth noting that the group distributes ransomware worldwide. This confirms that money is still a motivation for participants in this group,” said Maria Namestnikova, head of the Russian research center at Kaspersky Lab.
former founder Hacker group Killnet told About when there will be human casualties in cyber warfare.
