YouTube warned some users that their videos containing information on methods of bypassing blocks were included in the list of prohibited information by the decision of Roskomnadzor. In this regard, the video hosting company asked bloggers to remove such videos themselves, otherwise the company would have to block the content. reports RBC.
A Roskomnadzor representative confirmed to journalists that the agency had sent requests to remove materials promoting the use of VPNs and other programs to bypass the blocking.
Moreover, the regulator emphasized that YouTube management has not yet complied with the requirements to remove more than 300 such materials.
On March 1, 2023, amendments to the government decree came into force, allowing Roskomnadzor to block resources containing information on ways to bypass restrictions on access to prohibited content.
In addition, starting from November 30, the ban on the dissemination of scientific, scientific, technical and statistical information regarding VPN services will also come into force. Data necessary to ensure secure remote access will be an exception. This order will be valid until September 1, 2029.
