Mobile operators must start blocking anonymous spam calls if companies fail to disclose information about the purpose of the call, according to draft federal legislation prepared by the Ministry of Digital Development. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“It is proposed to make it mandatory to inform the operator about the purpose of the call,” the explanatory note says.
If this data is not provided, phone calls will be blocked. The press service of the ministry noted that the data provided by the companies will be automatically transmitted so that the source of the call is instantly displayed on the subscriber’s phone.
According to the agency, the largest mobile operators block an average of up to 0.5 billion unwanted calls, including those from scammers, every month.
