Google has officially announced that it has no plans to discontinue the release of its Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa series smartwatches. The denial comes after claims that Google has decided to stop producing these devices and focus on releasing fitness trackers under the Fitbit brand and developing its Pixel Watch series of smartwatches. reports Ars Technica publication.
A Google spokesperson emphasized that the company remains committed to the Fitbit brand and its customers, and that many of the features featured in the Pixel Watch 3 were developed through Fitbit’s innovations and advancements. It was also noted that the Fitbit Ace LTE was recently launched, and that more products will be introduced under this brand in the future.
While some features, such as music control and access to music services, have been removed from the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 smartwatches, Google assures us that devices in these lines will not be discontinued. The company continues to integrate some Fitbit features into its own products, including support for YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora on the Pixel Watch.
Google acquired Fitbit in 2019 and has since been actively working to integrate the company’s technologies and features into its own products.
