A user of the popular mobile dating app Tinder has been permanently banned after she asked developers, who are lesbians, to add an option to disable showing profiles of transgender men. She claimed that nearly three-quarters of the profiles she was offered as partners were of men who identified as women. It has been said about it on my X (Twitter) profile.
In a message to Tinder tech support, the user wrote: “I thought lesbianism meant female homosexuality: a woman who is only attracted to other women. But I forgot that’s not allowed anymore.”
Tinder said it banned the user for “promoting hatred” against other people. The company also said its policies include protecting all users, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.
The incident has sparked widespread debate among users of Tinder and other social media platforms, with many criticizing the company for preventing users from making selections based on their preferences, while others have supported Tinder’s decision, saying the requirement is discriminatory and offensive to transgender people.
Musk previously named It is a crime to promote gender reassignment among young people.
