US recognizes critical dependence on advanced chip supplies from Taiwan 01:08

The US economy is heavily dependent on advanced chips produced in Taiwan. US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated this at a hearing in Congress. TASS.

Raimondo said the United States buys 92% of the advanced chips it needs from TSMC in Taiwan.

“They are far ahead of anything we produce in the United States,” he said, reassuring congressmen somewhat by promising that chip production would be organized by TSMC, including in Arizona.

TSMC is one of the world’s largest electronic chip manufacturers. TSMC earned $69.3 billion in revenue in 2023, ahead of Intel and Samsung. In addition to Taiwan, where its main facilities are located, the company also establishes chip production facilities in the USA, Japan and Germany.
