Since the beginning of March, Roskomnadzor has sent 34 requests to remove ads for VPN services 18:16

Since March 1, 2024, Roskomnadzor (RKN) has sent 34 notices to sites requesting that they remove content advertising VPN services. This was reported by RIA News.

The publication says that Roskomnadzor began restricting access to information that promotes or disseminates ways to block access to illegal content on the Internet.

The Ministry emphasized that Roskomnadzor blocked 6 pages due to non-compliance with RKN requirements and non-removal of materials on this subject.

Anton Gorelkin, formerly Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications of the State Duma of the Russian Federation statedthat the online encyclopedia Wikipedia may be blocked in Russia in accordance with the requirements of the law banning advertising and popularizing means of bypassing Internet blocking, including VPN.

He added that the regulator has a number of claims against the online service, some of which have already received court orders.
