Nintendo is suing the creators of the popular Nintendo Switch console emulator for PC known as Yuzu. In this respect reports Game File reporter Stephen Totilo on his page on social network X (formerly Twitter).

According to the lawsuit, Nintendo believes the technology used in Yuzu illegally bypasses the Switch console’s security mechanisms, which facilitate the distribution of pirated copies of games. The company noted that the pirated version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was downloaded more than a million times even before the official release of the game, and financial support for the Yuzu project on the Patreon platform has increased significantly. According to Nintendo, this shows that Yuzu’s business model directly encourages piracy.

Additionally, Nintendo expressed concern about the leak of spoilers for the game, which was revealed due to the game being leaked and running on the Yuzu emulator. In this regard, the company is demanding compensation for copyright infringement and calling for the development and distribution of the emulator to be stopped.
