In an internal message sent to authorized service centers this week, Apple said it was “aware” of random display issues on the Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 and was “investigating.” reports MacRumor’s publication.
“Some customers may report false touches on the screen of their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2. Some customers call these “ghost touches,” Apple said in the note.
According to the problem description, it may result in unwanted calls and inability to enter the unlock code on the device.
Apple advised users of affected watches to regularly update their Apple Watch software. The company hopes it can fix this issue in a future watchOS update. Apple did not say how widespread the issue was or provide an expected time frame for the issue to be resolved.
Apple has instructed technicians not to repair affected smartwatch models while it investigates. As a workaround to the problem, the company suggested that users encountering the error force restart their Apple Watch. To do this, you need to simultaneously press and hold the Digital Crown and Side button for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models were released in September 2023.
